1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, or 10...
Didn't I blow your mind this time...

You come from out of nowhere...

I'm feeling snippety today...

Iowa
You read stories like this and you just want to huddle in a corner and will time to rewind so that you can stop it from ever happening. Britt, I have no idea what to say other than I'm so, so sorry. Please know that we're there for you.

Sorry to hit you all so hard right in the beginning. But Britt is a friend and we here in the Blogosphere try to care about our friends as best we can. Even if just in a virtual sense.

I will try to be a bit more lighthearted from here on out. 'Tay?

Glasses
Anybody who says glasses aren't hot haven't seen this picture yet. Total hotness!

A closer look

Florida
Here are the pictures from Florida that I promised. Apparently I took a lot more than I remember. I thought it was maybe 50 photos and it turned out to be 148 not including what I'm not uploading to Flickr (maybe another 10). So enjoy. And, yeah, you have to click through from your reader to see the photo applet or you can just view the album directly on Flickr.

Baby
Suze and Nat, aren't you proud of your countrymen?

Derailed
And this might be one of the reasons I'm glad I don't take public transit. Can you imagine if that y-split in the rail wasn't there to catch them?

I was out looking at all of your Flickr photos earlier today. Those are some nice beaches. And that shot from up top down below, that shows the pool, hot tub and the beach... that's pretty cool. Looks like you had fun.

Memarie Lane

Glasses are definitely the hotness. I want to get some just so I can look smart.

kapgar

marty, it was fun. Sorry I didn't have all the details on the pics earlier. I was waiting forever for them to finish uploading to Flickr. It's been an ongoing process throughout the day.

Memarie, I wish I could look half as hot and smart. Damn my looks.

Nat

What does this have to do with me? Why I am being lumped in with either the Vancouver PD or the drug addict parents? My nationality I presume? Isn't that kind of like lumping all Americans in with the kids in Florida who beat up that girl and posted it on YouTube? or lumping you in with Fox News for that matter. l

Hilly

She looks a-freaking-dorable in her glasses!

Now that I've covered the important matters...
;)

kapgar

Nat, not you personally. Just shame. I'm not lumping you in with them. Believe you me, when my fellow Americans do something stupid (all too often), I feel nothing but "pride." Ick.

Hilly, yeah she does!

sizzle

Katie was always cute but I'm totally biased when I say that glasses add to her hotness. Way to work the sex appeal! :)

kilax

Glasses are so sexy. Katie looks great in that pair :)

Brandon

I've always wanted to go to Key West. Looks like you guys had a blast.

kapgar

sizzle, yeah, I've kinda created my own little Sizzlette with her in those glasses, haven't I? And "oh yeah!" on the sex appeal.

kilax, I agree!

Brandon, I think it would've been better if we weren't so pressed for time and could've spent more in each place. But, yeah, it was fun.

Penelope

Katie looks fabulous in those glasses!!
Loved the pictures...beaches....palm trees...the ocean....mmmmm!
(Can you tell that I haven't had a holiday for a while?) ;o)

Nilsa

Yes, hearts near and far go out to Miss Britt. What a heart-wrenching entry.

Those pictures of the beach? Make me want to leave work NOW, get in my car and drive drive drive until I see ocean. And then come to an absolute standstill. Where I hear the birds. Smell the salt. Feel the sun. Ahhhh, I need a day (or 20) like that.

kapgar

Penelope, might be time for one!

Nilsa, 20? That's it? Gimme a couple months and I might finally be sated. ;-)

John

Schweeet! I KNEW you had a better time in FL than I did. Did you get inked? And are those LEGO creatures (the crab & shark)? Pretty cool. : )

kapgar

John, not that a conference is terrible. At least it's paid for. No ink. Too busy at 305 Ink (Miami Ink's actual name). And yep, those are all Lego, including the family photo immediately after. You should be able to click on them and go to the original photo on Flickr.

metalmom

You met YOJI???? I love him!!!!

kapgar

Yeah, but I didn't really get to talk to him. He was in a bit of a hurry. Just passing off some cash to the guy in the retail store and figuring out what they wanted to order for lunch before he headed back to finish a tattoo.

suze

I'm pretty sure what two idiots do on the other side of the country has absolutely nothing to do with me...

kapgar

True and I wasn't trying to imply that it does. Just wondering if you get one of those smack-your-forehead, "I can't believe we're all the same nationality" moments like I do with all the stupid people here in the States.

Karl

Great photos. Just got off the phone with Britt and she's doing a bit better today. Though it still looks like a war zone...probably will for a long time.

kapgar

Karl, thanks for the update on Britt. I need to get her phone number so I can call her. I've never spoken to her before but I did have her number from when we were all supposed to get together back in March. I just can't find it now.

suze

Ahh. No. I don't see it as a nationality thing so much as just a stupidity thing (if it was a joke, as they claim) or a lack of human decency thing (if it was for real). It could have easily happened in the States, or anywhere else for that matter. The fact that they're Canadian had no influence on my reaction to the story.

kapgar

No question it's a stupidity thing. That goes without saying. But when I read this sort of stuff about people in the States, I really do smack my forehead and say things like "oh great, we've got people like this representing us to the world's eye."

Krys Slovacek

See, I thought "Baby" referred to this similar story out of Germany - http://a.abcnews.com/International/wireStory?id=4923498. Based on the description of the baby ("nearly new"), I believe that this couple actually DID mean it as a joke. And, a pretty funny one, at that.

kapgar

But the real question is whether they were insisting it was a joke only after they got in trouble or if it was all along. We'll never know.
