A child is born...
Katie got in a baking zone last night. She decided she wanted to make brownies for her hairdresser since she is going in today to get her hair cut and colored and all that good stuff.
While I think this is nice and all, am I the only one who questions why, after paying ungodly sums of money to have hair done, we are spending more money on making homemade brownies for them as well? Does that just seem odd? Shouldn't they be giving us a discount as thanks? Please?
Perhaps it's just me.
Totally Unrelated Aside (TUA): I would like to wish a big ol' congratulations to my boy Brandon and his wife, Death?, on the birth of their daughter, Addie Mae DownWithPants, very early yesterday morning!
He'll probably have a post up sometime soon, so don't go looking for details and/or pictures on his site just yet. I'm sure they'll be forthcoming.
Congrats, big guy!
If Katie is anything like me then baking the brownies is more a gesture of kindness and thanks than any monetary equivalent. We spend a great deal of time in that chair and get to know our stylists well. I was good friends with mine and would often bring her something just because.
You've got a generous and sweet wife. But we already knew that! ;)

Sizzle is right. We get to know our hair stylists very well! I had a post dedicated to how awesome mine is back in October ;) Katie is just showing her hair stylist that she cares, like she would for a good friend.

Depends... you want her to have a mohawk?
Seriously though, for some reason there is a relationship with a hair stylist. It's totally bizarre. I alternately like and hate mine.

how could the news of brandons new baby be TUA when your subject is "a child is born" ... i would say the news about KT baking brownies would be unrelated to the subject...technically speaking.
KT has probably developed a friendship with her hairdresser and just wanted to do that out of the goodness of her heart. I have felt inclined to do the same in the past (not that actually did it though ;)

Baking is the best way of thanking someone next to inviting them to your home. Baking is bringing home to them instead. There's nothing sweeter and more wholesome than a chocolate brownie or a cupcake. It really shows your wife is a sweetheart just getting into her "baking zone". It's a good thing.

Are these "special" brownies? If so, I'd be willing to cut Katie's hair next time I'm in town...

So, I might have to side with Katie. I mean, I absolutely adore my hairstylist. And my fiance plays soccer with her husband. And we all get together from time to time. So, baking something for her might be a way of expressing how much I appreciate her work. OK, and it might give me a good excuse to go into a sugar-induced haze. Is any of that so wrong?

sizzle, oh I know it's a sign of appreciation, but dang. I want a sign of appreciation, too! Er, for Katie, that is. And these are damn fine brownies!
kilax, I can't say I remember that post. I'll have to go find it.
Kyra, Katie alternately loves and fears hers. She fears how much it will wind up costing but generally loves how it looks when it's done. And, yes, it is very bizarre. The relationship, that is.
august, and what has stopped you? Oh, and the title came after the post.
CK, it's a good thing, sure. But so is a discount! ;-)
Dave, quite special!
Nilsa, okay, in that case I understand. You all hang out outside of the salon. Katie and Amy do not.
